Land Tenure and Geoscience Resources

The Mines and Minerals division develops and maintains a number of online applications which allow industry and the general public to access land tenure and geoscience information online.

Applications are monitored during weekdays from 8:30 AM to 5:00 PM Eastern Standard Time (GMT - 5:00). Any issues regarding applications outside of these hours will be addressed the next business day.


CLAIMaps displays the location of land where claim staking can or cannot occur.


Electronic Assessment System

The Electronic Assessment System allows assessment work to be submitted online.

Geo-Claims (decommissioned)

As of April 8, 2016, the Geo-Claims application has been decommissioned. Geo-Claims ran from CLAIMaps III, which has also been decommissioned. The new CLAIMaps application includes some of the geological datasets that Geo-Claims displayed.


GeologyOntario is an online warehouse that contains all of the publically available digital data collected by the Mines and Minerals division.

Mining Act Awareness Program

The Mining Act Awareness Program (MAAP) is an online training course that provides information on the basics of the Mining Act and its provisions and regulations. The program ensures that prospectors and exploration proponents are informed before they engage in prospecting and exploration activity.

Mining Claims Information provides information on mining claims.


OGSEarth provides geoscience data, collected by the Mines and Minerals division, which can be viewed using user-friendly geographic information programs such as Google Earth.
