This digital data release contains field photographs, electron microprobe data, whole-rock geochemical data and assay data from samples collected during the summer of 2016 as part of a multi-year bedrock mapping project to update the geological knowledge of the Wawa Subprovince in the Michipicoten greenstone belt. Miscellaneous Release—Data 357
Geochemistry of the Balmer and Confederation Assemblages at the Laird Lake Property and Associated Gold Mineralization, Red Lake Greenstone Belt, Northwestern Ontario; by B.R. Gélinas and P. Hollings. This digital data release contains whole-rock chemistry data from 161 field and drill-core samples that were collected during the mapping of the Laird Lake property in Killala and Mulcahy townships, and the Medicine Stone Lake area of the Red Lake greenstone belt, northwestern Ontario. A general description of the units sampled and their geochemistry, as well as a brief interpretation of the data, are provided. The data and interpretation presented in this publication represent part of an unpublished Master of Science (MSc) thesis by the lead author at Lakehead University, Thunder Bay. Surficial Geochemistry

Miscellaneous Release—Data 358
Lake Sediment and Water Geochemical Data from the Greenstone Area, Northwestern Ontario; by L.A. Handley and R.D. Dyer. This digital data release provides deep and shallow lake sediment geochemical data and lake water geochemical data, including quality control data, for samples collected from a total of 2229 sites in the Greenstone area in northwestern Ontario, during the 2011 and 2012 field seasons. Deep and shallow lake sediment were analyzed for loss on ignition (LOI); and by instrumental neutron activation analysis (INAA, for deep sediment only), inductively coupled plasma atomic emission spectroscopy (ICP—AES) and inductively coupled plasma mass spectrometry (ICP—MS) for more than 50 elements. Lake water samples were analyzed for more than 50 elements by inductively coupled plasma atomic emission spectroscopy (ICP—AES), inductively coupled plasma mass spectrometry (ICP—MS) and ion chromatography (IC). Temperature, pH and conductivity were determined in the field. All location information is presented as Universal Transverse Mercator (UTM) co-ordinates using North American Datum 1983 (NAD83) in Zone 16. Data are available as 22 Microsoft^® Excel^® 2013 (.xlsx) format files and are accompanied by supporting documentation in portable document format (.pdf). The data are available on 1 CD. $20.00.

Staff of the Mines and Minerals Division, Ministry of Northern Development and Mines, will be participating in the 2018 Ontario Prospectors Exploration Showcase in Thunder Bay. This year’s theme, Grassroots Prospects lead to New Mines!, is about the exciting discoveries that continue to make Ontario one of the most attractive places in the world to explore. Ministry staff will be presenting posters and talks on recent field work, geoscience projects and initiatives, and summaries of current exploration activities in Ontario. The showcase provides an excellent forum for members of Ontario’s prospector, mining and exploration community to gather for the exchange of geoscience and exploration information.
