Mines and Minerals Division: 

Recommendations for Exploration across Ontario have been released for 2016–2017. The recommendations are generated annually by staff of the Ontario Geological Survey from research, field programs and areas of industry activity.

Bill 39 Committee Hearings Scheduled

The Standing Committee on Justice Policy intends to hold public hearings in Toronto on Thursday, February 23, 2017 and Thursday, March 2, 2017 to consider Bill 39, An Act to amend the Aggregate Resources Act and the Mining Act. Interested people who wish to be considered to make an oral presentation on Bill 39 on Thursday, February 23, 2017 should provide their contact name, mailing address, phone number, and email address to the Clerk of the Committee by 12:00 noon on Tuesday, February 21, 2017.

Bill 39 Sent to Committee

Second reading debate on Bill 39 at Queen’s Park ended on November 15 and the bill was referred to the Standing Committee on Justice Policy for review. The committee will decide how, where and when to entertain public comment and then will review the Bill section by section and consider amendments. All told the bill was debated for more than nine hours in the Ontario Legislature since it was introduced on October 27th. Here are some excerpts of the debate:
