Mines and Minerals Division: 

Mining Lands Administration going Digital

Ontario is continuing its phased approach to modernizing its Mining Act. This means implementing province-wide online claim staking and a modern mining lands administration system. Implementing this phase of Mining Act Modernization requires the enactment of some technical changes to the Mining Act and some regulations.

2014 Ontario Geological Survey Field Projects

Mines and Minerals Division: 

The Ontario Geological Survey will conduct approximately 40 geoscience mapping projects across Ontario during 2014. The accompanying map highlights active projects planned for Northern and Southern Ontario.

Ontario has the largest metal mining sector in Canada, and accounts for nearly a quarter of the country’s mineral production.

Through new regulations, legislation and policies under Mining Act Modernization (MAM), Ontario aims to stay out in front when it comes to mineral exploration and development in Canada.
