Mines and Minerals Division: 

MLAS Enrolment Packages Are On the Way to Clients

In advance of launching Stage 1 of the new 24/7 Mining Lands Administration System (MLAS) on February 7, all holders of an active or permanent prospector’s licence as well as mining claim holders in Ontario will be sent information to guide them in completing their enrolment into MLAS. The ministry started mailing out packages on January 15. Call us or email us at pro.ndm@ontario.ca if you have not received your enrolment package by February 7.

Recommendations for Exploration, 2017–2018

Mines and Minerals Division: 

Recommendations for Exploration across Ontario have been released for 2017–2018. The recommendations are generated annually by staff of the Ontario Geological Survey from research, field programs and areas of industry activity.

Mines and Minerals Division: 

Sites of Aboriginal Cultural Significance May Continue to be Withdrawn During the Pre-Conversion Period

With the 90-day pre-conversion period now in effect, no new mining claim can be registered in Ontario until online claim registration launches April 10, 2018, as part of Stage 2 of implementing the Mining Lands Administration System (MLAS).

A Claim Boundary Report Will Allow You to Tailor Conversion of Legacy Claims

Claim staking in Ontario will come to an end on January 8, 2018. A 90-day pre-conversion period will go into effect January 9, followed by the introduction of online mining claim registration and the full launch of the new Mining Lands Administration System (MLAS) on April 10, 2018.

Be Prepared to Manage Your Mining Lands Online When MLAS Launches

Claim staking in Ontario will end on January 8, 2018. It will be replaced by online mining claim registration supported by a new electronic Mining Lands Administration System (MLAS) through which claim holders will also manage their mining lands from anywhere on a 24/7 basis.
