SPECIAL EDITION

Stage 1 of Ontario’s new 24/7 Mining Lands Administration System (MLAS) goes into service today at 10 a.m. At this time, the system is available for mining lands clients to enrol, set up their new client profile, and explore some of the features of the system. Stage 2 will launch April 10, marking the beginning of online mining claim registration in Ontario.

2018 Ontario Geological Survey Field Projects

Mines and Minerals Division: 

The Ontario Geological Survey will conduct approximately 20 geoscience mapping projects across Ontario during 2018. The accompanying map highlights active projects planned for Northern and Southern Ontario.

How Mining Claim Due Dates Will Be Impacted by Transition and Conversion

The third phase of our work to modernize the Mining Act will significantly impact claim holders’ portfolios. During the pre-conversion period and for a time after conversion, claim holders will be busy re-configuring their portfolios and may not be in a position to carry out exploration projects. To protect claim holders during this period of change, the ministry has taken steps to prevent mining claims from forfeiting.
