CLAIMaps

Welcome to the CLAIMaps Internet Application developed by the Mines and Minerals Division of the Ministry of Northern Development, Mines and Forestry. This site provide information on Mining Claims within the Province of Ontario.

In keeping with the Government initiatives to make data more accessible to the public, this site also allows users to download map images as well as digital data. The map information at this site is normally updated every night.

This site allows you to search mining claim information within the province. It also provides the ability to download map plots, land-related information, and vector data in the form of shape files. The information within this site is updated on a regular basis.

Historical Mining Claim Maps

Historical Mining Claim Maps, previously only available in paper, linen or Mylar, are now available as downloadable PDFs from the Historical Mining Claim Maps section of this web site.

Order Hardcopy Maps

The following fees will apply for a plotted map sheet:

  • 13" x 19" or less (Black and White) - $2.00
  • 13" x 19" or less (Colour) - $3.00
  • 40" x 32" (Black and White) - $4.00
  • 40" x 32" (Colour) - $6.00

Map plots are produced in two standard sizes, 1:20,000 or 1:40,000, depending on the size of the township or area requested.

CLAIMap Polygon Data

Included

Provincial Polygon Coverage of Mining Claim, Disposition and Alienation Layers with associated claim number and all administrative boundaries (township & unorganized areas). Some base data are provided including general drainage, roads and provincial outline.

Format

ESRI® ArcView® shape file format (only). Geographic co-ordinates North American Datum 1983 (NAD83).
