How to View the Maps
Google Earth can be downloaded for free. Once you have opened a map in Google Earth, you will be able to view information about the datasets by clicking on points on the map. Clicking on a point on the map will open an information box that displays details about that point.
To View a Map
- Click on a map title link in the map listing.
- Once the map opens in Google Earth, navigate around the area and explore the map layers:
- Turn map layers on and off by checking and unchecking the boxes beside the layer names.
- Expand a group of map layers by clicking the plus sign beside the layer name.
- Click on points on the map to view details.
- Zoom and pan using the navigation tools and mouse scroll wheel.

No, you will need an internet connection to download the map files from this site and connect to other live data.
OGS Earth
These data sets represent the preliminary products of a test project undertaken by the Ontario Geological Survey (OGS) to adopt new and innovative technologies to deliver our geoscience data. The Ontario Geological Survey has employed the use of the Google Earth™ mapping service (“Google Earth”), a free three-dimensional (3D) geographic viewing tool from Google Inc for viewing multi layered geological, mining and land and water data.
