OGS Earth is a set of data that can be viewed using Google Earth. This dataset contains provincial
scale image overlays including geophysics (magnetics), bedrock geology and surficial geology. A
shaded relief map created using NASA's Shuttle Radar Topography Mission data is provided as a base
layer. However, the shaded relief map has been resampled to reduce the file size. An index map for
mining assessment files is also included in this dataset, which provides links to locations at the
GeologyOntario website where the actual assessment files can be downloaded.
OGS Earth 2 is a set of data that can be viewed using Google Earth. This dataset contains a set of
data products useful for Land and Water Stewardship initiatives including surficial geology, bedrock
topography and physiography. The resolution of image data in this dataset is generally better than
that included on the original OGS Earth, however, this dataset only covers Southern Ontario (south
of latitude 46 north). An index map for OGS publications is also included in this dataset, which
provides links to locations at the GeologyOntario website where the actual publications can be
downloaded.
