Summary of Common Errors
Before submitting your forms, ensure they are filled out
correctly and avoid some of these common errors.
Application to Record Staked Mining Claim(s)
- The post number where the staking commenced and where the staking was
completed is not indicated on the application (Part A). This information
is especially significant if the staking occurred within 24 hours of the land
being re-opened for staking.
- Corrections on the application are not initialled by the licensee.
- Schedules and attachments are not dated or signed by the licensee
- Indication that tags were used or not used for the staking is not
completed (Part 10)
- Incorrect client number or licence number.
- Address for service in Ontario is not indicated if the licensee or the
Recorded Holder is not a resident of Ontario.
- No fees included (if received by mail).
- Forms are completed in pencil. The use of ink is highly encouraged.
- Claim sketches (Part D)
- Lack of indication of tie-ons to other staked claims
- Post numbers for each of the primary corners and location
of line posts are not illustrated
- Distances between posts are no illustrated
Application for Prospector's Licence
- Improper identification used. Refer to Policy UC 101-1 for types of acceptable
identification.
- No fees included.
Transfers of Unpatented Mining Claim(s)
- Transferees have no client number. A transferee must apply/obtain a
client number in order to receive an interest in a mining claim.
- Corrections are not initialled.
- The Corporate Seal is not affixed or does not include the words "I/we
have authority to bind the corporation".
- The Affidavit of Subscribing Witness is not commissioned.
- An address for service in Ontario for the transferee is not completed.
Application for Client Numbers
- Improper identification used (individual client numbers).
- Articles of Incorporation are not included (for company client numbers).
