Geochemical Data from the Hoyle Pond Mine, Timmins, Ontario; by E. Dinel. This digital data release comprises the results of major oxide and trace element geochemical analyses for 356 samples collected between December 2002 and August 2006 at the Hoyle Pond Mine. The results of the analyses are contained on 28 worksheets in a single Microsoft® Excel® 2003 (.xls) file. Supplementary information included with the geochemical data comprise sample number; sample type; sample location (geographic, as well as location within the mine); and rock unit. Lithogeochemical Data for Metavolcanic Rocks in the Wabigoon-Dinorwic Area, Northwestern Ontario; by G.P. Beakhouse. This data release contains location and whole rock and trace element geochemical data for 277 samples of metavolcanic rocks collected during detailed mapping in the Wabigoon-Dinorwic area of northwestern Ontario. Groundwater Resources Study 5
Karst of Southern Ontario and Manitoulin Island; by F.R. Brunton and J.E.P. Dodge. This digital data release contains reconnaissance-level field data and polygons depicting the nature and regional distributions of karstification of Paleozoic bedrock units within thin drift and exposed bedrock regions of southern Ontario and Manitoulin Island. Field photos of key karst features such as caves, sinkholes, disappearing streams and springs, and solution-enhanced joint sets are highlighted for selected regions on the digital map. The relative response of the various sedimentary rock units to karstification is placed within a stratigraphic and geographic context. The data are organized into a series of folders of varying type and format. These include 1) main karst report to accompany map; 2) an ArcGIS® map; and 3) a second report prepared by Golder Associates and OGS staff describing three-dimensional data in the form of field site descriptions and joint measurements, digital core logs, and geophysics from select regions to further delineate/investigate the vertical extent of particular surficial karst features. Groundwater Resources Study 9
An Investigation of the Buried Bedrock Valley Aquifer System in the Caledon East Area, Southern Ontario; by S.D. Davies, S. Holysh and D.R. Sharpe. This Groundwater Resource Study investigates a buried bedrock valley aquifer system in the Caledon East area of south-central Ontario. The study included compilation and interpretation of existing subsurface data from water wells and boreholes; completion of a ground seismic survey; completion of a deep, continuous-cored borehole southwest of Caledon East and downhole geophysical measurements of this borehole; and completion of 2 rotary drill boreholes to define bedrock surface, provide preliminary stratigraphic information and confirm seismic stratigraphic interpretations. Results provide insight into the geology and hydrostratigraphy of the buried valley aquifer in the Caledon East area, which is part of the regional Laurentian valley system, and aid in construction of a hydrostratigraphic model of the study area. Modern Alluvium Data Release, Gogama-Shining Tree Area, Northeastern Ontario; by V.E. Felix and A.L. Matson. This data release, released in conjunction with Open File Report 6227, consists of data resulting from heavy mineral processing of 335 modern alluvium and 8 till samples collected over an area of 6500 km2 in the Gogama-Shining Tree area, northeastern Ontario, as part of a regional modern alluvium sampling survey conducted between June and August 2005. The primary objective of this survey was to determine the presence of kimberlite indicator minerals (KIMs), metamorphic/magmatic massive sulphide indicator minerals (MMSIMs®) and gold grains. Included on this release are sample site locations; sample tabling data; KIM counts and remarks; microprobe, gold grain and table concentrates data; MMSIM® picking results and remarks, and pebble lithology counts. Available as 11 Microsoft® Excel® 2003 (.xls) files on 1 CD. $20.00.
