What We Do

The goal of the Precambrian Geoscience Section (PGS) is to improve the understanding of Precambrian geology and mineral deposits of Ontario and to convey this knowledge to the public through the multidisciplinary geoscience projects that address critical geoscience problems in key geographic areas. These projects may be delivered as part of the PGS core bedrock mapping function or through collaborative partnerships.

PGS is responsible for:

• Mapping Ontario’s Precambrian bedrock and improving the understanding of various mineral deposit settings.
• Regional gravity, magnetic, radiometric, seismic and electromagnetic geophysical data and derivative products in support of the bedrock mapping program.
