Northern Development Councils Youth
NDCs Recommend Ways to Create Opportunities for Youth in North
Ontario’s Northern Development Councils undertook a Northern Dialogue on creating opportunities for Youth as one of their first major tasks. After extensive discussions with people across Northern Ontario, the NDCs submitted 16 recommendations that reflect the priorities and values of northern communities.
These recommendations, which have been posted for public review, have already produced benefits by:
- Providing guidance for enhancement of existing programs and services, such as the Northern Ontario Heritage Fund Corporation’s Northern Ontario Youth Internship and Co-op Placement Program
- Offering direction for new programs and services currently under development, such as a dedicated “one-stop” youth web portal and a comprehensive directory of government services and programs
- Informing the work under way in developing the Growth Plan for Northern Ontario.
We invite you to review the materials on this site, and join us in the effort to create more and better opportunities for youth in the North. By working together, we will build a Northern Ontario that attracts, retains and engages young people.
