Sudbury Has Designs On School Of Architecture

Planning for a proposed Northern Ontario School of Architecture in Sudbury continues to move forward.

Plans for the new school, include developing curriculum and opening a project office.  The proposed school would be located in downtown Sudbury and be linked to Laurentian University.

The planning stage is expected to provide full-time jobs for three staff including a Business Development Officer, a project manager and an administrative assistant.

QUICK FACTS

  • The NOHFC is investing $701,000 in the City of Greater Sudbury for further study to plan for a proposed school of architecture.
  • A 2008 feasibility study concluded that there is a significant shortage of seats in Canadian architecture schools.  In addition, it outlined that construction of a new 75,000-square foot school would cost approximately $35 million.
