NOHFC logo McGuinty Government Helps Red Rock Indian Band Redevelop Historic Lodge

NEWS

Red Rock Indian Band will create new jobs and economic growth by redeveloping a historic building, the Chalet Lodge.

The First Nation community acquired the Chalet Lodge to host tourism activities, hold conferences and meetings and provide space for local small businesses.

Through the Northern Ontario Heritage Fund Corporation (NOHFC), the band is now preparing a detailed business plan to guide development of the lodge. The plan will include job training programs to carry out renovations and fully staff the lodge when it re-opens.

QUOTES

“I am pleased that our government is helping Red Rock Indian Band with its plans to develop this unique local asset into a business venture that could benefit the local economy.”
 - Michael Gravelle, Minister of Northern Development, Mines and Forestry and Chair of the NOHFC.

QUICK FACTS
