Chapleau Focuses On Revitalizing Local Economy

McGuinty Government Helping To Create Businesses and Jobs

Chapleau is developing a plan to help guide community development and improve economic activity.
Through the support of the Northern Ontario Heritage Fund Corporation (NOHFC), the Chapleau Community Revitalization Project will be able to identify local initiatives and industries that have the greatest potential to bring economic stability and renewal to the community.
The plan will include recommendations on:
- expanding tourism opportunities;
- attracting private sector investments and;
- improving the downtown core

QUICK FACTS
- The NOHFC is investing $50,000 into the project under its Infrastructure and Community Development Program.
- Chapleau is home to the Chapleau Crown Game Preserve, a protected wildlife habitat that covers over 7,000 square kilometres and is the largest Crown preserve in the world.
