McGuinty Government Investing In Infrastructure, Creating Jobs

Construction of the new Beatty Creek Bridge on Highway 534 in Nipissing Township will improve highway conditions and create 22 construction jobs.

Work began recently to build the new bridge. Drivers will experience only minor delays until the bridge is completed in fall 2010.

  • The existing timber bridge was built in 1954 and is at the end of its service life.
  • A $3.1-million contract has been awarded to Nor Eng Construction and Engineering of Sudbury 
  • Work on Northern Ontario highways this year is expected to create as many as 4,700 construction jobs.
  • This year the government is investing $648 million in the Northern Highways Program for highway rehabilitation, expansion and safety improvements.
