Red Lake Prepares For Future Economic Development

The Municipality of Red Lake is looking to attract business and strengthen its economy by upgrading its airport terminal and developing commercial lots along Highway 105.  

Through support from the Northern Ontario Heritage Fund Corporation (NOHFC), Red Lake will complete two projects:

  • The construction of a single storey airport terminal building and parking lot to accommodate an increase in airline passenger traffic, and
  • The installation of services such as water, sewer and hydro on 10 commercial lots along Highway 105 to attract business in the hospitality, retail and service sectors.
It is expected that these projects could create some 130 full time positions over the next five years.

  • The NOHFC’s Infrastructure and Community Development Program is providing $825,000 for the airport project and $1 million for the development of the Highway 105 lots.
