(What is RSS?)
By pursuing innovative solutions to renewable energy generation and conservation, northerners will be able to reduce their costs of energy consumption and position the North for future growth. This program is designed to help northern organizations to capitalize on energy opportunities, pursue clean alternatives and reduce their demand on external energy sources.
What is Eligible?
The Northern Energy program has four distinct elements. Download the full program brochure for details on the organizations and projects that may qualify for funding under each program element:
- Renewable Energy Planning
- Renewable Energy Capital Cost-Differential Assistance
- New Internal Energy Generation Projects
- Energy Conservation Pilot Projects
The NOHFC may also consider other innovative energy projects that, in the opinion of the Board, adhere to the mandate of the NOHFC.
- Requests for assistance from individual homeowners will not be considered.
Funding
Funding assistance will be in the form of forgivable performance loans or conditional contributions:
Renewable Energy Planning
- The maximum contribution will generally not exceed 50 per cent of eligible project costs up to a maximum of $100,000.
Renewable Energy Capital Assistance
- The maximum contribution will generally not exceed 50 percent of eligible project costs up to a maximum of $1 million.
New Internal Energy Generation Projects
- The maximum contribution will generally not exceed 50 per cent of eligible project costs up to a maximum of $250,000.
Energy Conservation Pilot Projects
- The maximum contribution will generally not exceed 50 per cent of eligible project costs up to a maximum of $500,000.
