Through this program, young
northerners will have access to work
placements and internships that will
serve as a springboard to rewarding and
successful careers. By investing in our
highly skilled young workforce, Northern
Ontario employers prepare them for
future employment right here in the
North.
What is Eligible?
Private sector and public sector
employers located in Northern Ontario
involved in the following areas: health
care, social services, value-added
manufacturing, emerging technologies,
environmental sciences, and other
activities that will result in an
economic or social development advantage
for Northern Ontario.
Candidate Criteria

Co-op Placements: Northern Ontario
secondary school graduates 29 years
of age or under currently attending
an accredited college or university.

Internships: Northern Ontario
secondary school graduates 29 years
of age or under who recently
graduated from an accredited college
or university.
Funding
Co-op placements: eligible Northern
Ontario employers would be provided with
a conditional contribution of up to 50
per cent of a wage subsidy to a maximum
of $6.00 per hour to hire post-secondary
students from Northern Ontario for work
placements.
Internships: eligible Northern Ontario
employers would be provided with a
conditional contribution of:

Up to 50 per cent of a recent
Northern Ontario graduate’s salary
to a maximum of $27,500 annually
(private sector employers).

Up
to 90 per cent of a recent Northern
Ontario graduate’s salary to a
maximum of $27,500 annually (public
sector employers)
