Violence Against Women Prevention Initiative
Currently, not-for-profit programs and services that help prevent and address violence against women and their children receive more than $110 million a year from the Ontario government.
In Northern Ontario, our ministry cooperates with the Ontario Women's Directorate to deliver the Violence Against Women Prevention Initiative - Northern Grants Program.
The program supports Northern Ontario community-based projects that promote:
- prevention of violence against women
- public education and awareness
- safety for women and their children.
Projects eligible for funding may include:
- providing conferences, workshops, or training sessions
- conducting awareness/education campaigns
- investing in minor capital projects for shelters
- buying, developing or distributing resource materials
- developing or updating web sites

- Apply for 2008 (submission deadline is September 15, 2008)
