In the April 17, 2020, ENDM Bulletin, the ministry acknowledged that the COVID-19 outbreak and related public health requirements are special circumstances that have created challenges for all claim holders in Ontario. As such, ENDM provided relief by allowing a simplified method to apply for COVID-19 related exclusion requests. In the current circumstances, with the outbreak continuing into late summer, we appreciate that challenges have continued. As a result, we will continue our earlier practice of leveraging the tools available under the Mining Act and will expand the availability of this relief to all claim holders with anniversary dates on or before March 31, 2021.

Claim holders with claim anniversary dates on or before March 31, 2021, will be given an exclusion order by making a brief request via email. There will be no cost for COVID-19 related exclusion requests. The exclusion orders will remove the requirement to perform and file assessment work for a period of time of up to 12 months.

To obtain an exclusion order, claim holders or their authorized agents must email the Provincial Recording Office at pro.ndm@ontario.ca no earlier than the 30th day before the anniversary date of your claim and no later than 4:30 PM Eastern time on the anniversary date. For more information, please see this bulletin.

Assistance for all matters related to the Mining Lands Administration System (MLAS) is available by calling us toll-free at 1-888-415-9845 (choose the Provincial Recording Office – Option 1). This toll-free line is staffed Monday to Friday from 8:30 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. At any time, clients may leave a voice message and we will return the call in accordance with Ontario’s Quality Service Standard

The MLAS map viewer application provides search and navigation tools while providing added functions. Basemaps and imagery provide a more enhanced visual product with the ability to create, modify and print custom made as well as provide standard mapping products. Markup and printing tools aid with identifying and displaying specific features on a map.

As part of our commitment to customer service, ENDM will continue to provide excellence in mapping services including in meeting its obligation to comply with the Access to Ontarians with Disabilities Act (AODA). This newly introduced legislation is intended to better accommodate people with disabilities while improving and maintaining the high standard of service that ENDM provides to clients and the general public.
