Land Tenure and Geoscience Resources

The Mines and Minerals division develops and maintains a number of online applications which allow industry and the general public to access land tenure and geoscience information online.

Applications are monitored weekdays from 8:30 AM to 5:00 PM Eastern Standard Time (GMT - 5:00). Any issues outside of these hours will be addressed the next business day.

On April 10, 2018, MLAS will become the system through which claim holders will manage their mining lands online on a 24/7 basis. To access MLAS you must first hold a valid prospector’s licence and create an account with Ontario’s ONe-key unique electronic credential system. You may also download our MLAS user guide.


CLAIMaps displays the location of active unpatented mining claims.

Electronic Assessment System

The Electronic Assessment System allows assessment work to be submitted online.


GeologyOntario is an online warehouse that contains all of the publically available digital data collected by the Mines and Minerals division.

Mining Act Awareness Program

The Mining Act Awareness Program (MAAP) is an online training course that provides information on the basics of the Mining Act and its provisions and regulations. The program ensures that prospectors and exploration proponents are informed before they engage in prospecting and exploration activity.

OGSEarth provides geoscience data, collected by the Mines and Minerals division, which can be viewed using user-friendly geographic information programs such as Google Earth.
