The Northern Highways Program is a comprehensive, multi-year plan for the rehabilitation and selective expansion of the highway system in Northern Ontario. ENDM works in partnership with the Ministry of Transportation to plan and prioritize new construction and repair projects. In 2017-18, ENDM committed nearly $630 million for this program.
What the Program Offers
- Adding passing lanes.
- Rehabilitation and resurfacing of pavement.
- Rehabilitation and replacement of bridges.
- Widening sections of major Northern Ontario highways based on traffic, safety and strategic considerations (Highway 11 south of North Bay, completed in 2012; Highway 69 south of Sudbury, Highway 11-17 east of Thunder Bay).
